Zoho Bigin vs Pipedrive vs NerdCRM

If you’ve shortlisted Zoho Bigin and your team makes most of its sales on the phone, swap NerdCRM in. You’ll cut your CRM bill in half and get the call-recording auto-link Bigin doesn’t offer at any tier.

At a glance

You save $25/month on a 5-seat team vs Bigin Express, $50/month vs Pipedrive Essential. At 10 seats it’s $50/month and $100/month respectively. Recording capability is where the gap widens further — Bigin and Pipedrive Essential simply don’t ship it.

When Bigin is the right pick

  • Your team works mostly through email; calling is occasional
  • You already use Zoho Books, Desk, or Campaigns and want one bill
  • You need pre-built workflows for a long list of common scenarios
  • Your buyer prefers a brand-name SaaS vendor

When Pipedrive is the right pick

  • You want the most polished visual reports out of the box
  • You’re already paying for an integration marketplace (Zapier-heavy stacks)
  • You’re moving up from a higher-priced CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce) and Pipedrive feels like a familiar downgrade

When NerdCRM is the right pick

  • The phone is the channel — recruiters, agencies, EdTech admissions, real estate, BPOs
  • You’ve been logging calls on a spreadsheet (or skipping the log entirely)
  • Your callbacks slip because nobody can find the recording from three days ago
  • You want predictable pricing — one tier, one number, no per-feature upcharges
  • You can deploy a free MicroSIP softphone on Windows for your callers

How the auto-link actually works

A free Windows MicroSIP softphone uploads each recording directly to S3 via a presigned URL — the agent never sees AWS keys. The server matches the call’s phone number against your contacts and deals and attaches the audio to whichever record matches. No manual tagging, no spreadsheet of file paths.

If a number doesn’t match anything, the recording shows up in an unmatched bin where you can attach it manually. The next call from that number gets linked automatically once the contact exists.

Recording storage and pricing posture

NerdCRM includes 10 GB of rolling recording storage per user, with 12-month retention. At our default audio compression that’s roughly 900 hours per user — well above what a heavy outbound day would consume in a year. Overages are billed at $0.05/GB/month and only after a conversation, never as a surprise charge.

Bigin and Pipedrive Essential don’t have this question because neither stores recordings.

Migration: CSV in, 30 minutes

Export contacts, companies, and deals from Bigin (Setup → Data Administration → Export). Import each CSV in NerdCRM (Settings → Import). Map your stage names to the new pipeline. You can be running the same pipeline in 30 minutes.

We help the first cohort of customers migrate in person. Email hello@nerddevs.com if you’re moving more than a few hundred records.

Frequently asked questions

Does Zoho Bigin offer call recording?

No. Bigin does not offer call recording at any of its tiers (Free, Express, or Premier). You'd need to bolt on a separate VoIP integration and a third-party recording service, both at additional cost.

How much do you save at 5 users?

At 5 users, Zoho Bigin Express is $45/month ($9 × 5). NerdCRM is $20/month ($4 × 5). That's $25/month or $300/year saved, plus the bundled recording feature you would otherwise pay extra for on Bigin.

Can I migrate my Bigin data to NerdCRM?

Yes. Export contacts, companies, and deals from Bigin as CSV and import them via the built-in CSV importer. Field mappings are flexible. We also help with one-off migrations for the first batch of customers.

What does NerdCRM not have that Bigin does?

Bigin has more polish on email-only workflows: a built-in email client, more pre-built templates, and tighter integration with the Zoho suite (Books, Desk, Campaigns). If your team is email-first rather than phone-first, Bigin or HubSpot Free are reasonable picks.

Is NerdCRM made by Zoho?

No. NerdCRM is built by Nerddevs, a Bangladesh-based product team. It is independent of Zoho and runs on its own infrastructure.
