Most CRM price comparisons compare the wrong thing. They show the headline per-seat number and call it a day. They miss two things small phone-heavy teams pay for:

  1. Call recording — usually a separate add-on, sometimes from a different vendor entirely
  2. Storage of recordings — billed separately on most platforms, or capped silently

Here’s the actual five-seat math for the three CRMs I see shortlisted most often by phone-heavy teams.

Zoho Bigin is half of Pipedrive at this tier. NerdCRM is half of Bigin again.

This is where the differences start mattering for a team on the phone.

Where the others justify their pricing

To be clear: Bigin and Pipedrive aren’t ripping you off. They’re just paid for different shapes:

  • Bigin — better email workflows, more pre-built templates, deep integration with the rest of the Zoho suite (Books, Desk, Campaigns)
  • Pipedrive — older product, more polish on visual reports, stronger marketplace of third-party integrations
  • NerdCRM — narrow product surface, but the call recording auto-link is the bet

If your team is mostly emailing, Bigin or HubSpot Free is probably the right pick. If your team’s primary value is the conversation, NerdCRM lines up better.

Caveats and small print

  • Pricing as of May 2026. Vendors raise prices; these numbers can drift.
  • Bigin has a 1-user free tier; Pipedrive doesn’t. NerdCRM is free for 5 users with no credit card.
  • All three offer a free trial; only NerdCRM offers a public read-only demo that loads instantly.
  • All three handle CSV import and basic deal pipelines competently. Nobody is broken at the basics.

My actual recommendation

If you’ve already bought into the Zoho ecosystem, stay on Bigin. Switching costs are real.

If you’re picking new and your team is on the phone, save the difference. The annual saving over Bigin Express + bolt-on recording is enough to fund another sales hire’s first month.
